Portraits
For this weeks portraits I decided to take pictures of Conor (the little boy I nanny for) and my niece Bella. For Conors picture I cropped the image and used the dodge and burn tools and also the clone tool to get rid of a few marks on the floor. the biggest difficulty I had with Conor's portrait was the lighting on his shirt. I had the shot set up in front of a big picture window to allow enough natural light but it I couldn't get his white shirt to not be over exposed. I tried to darken it some through Gimp but it is still a little bright.
With the picture of Bella the hardest thing I faced was getting her to look at me! She loves to dance so I wanted to take pictures of her at a concert in a park that we went to. she has the most beautiful smile which lights up her face. Unfortunately every time she smiled she turned her head! So for the photo of her I decided to use a photo that captures her crazy side. The only thing I did to this photo was crop a little off the top and blur the background.
For this picture I used the same photo but played around with gray scale and color. I think I like this one the best.
Your second photo is hilarious! What a great shot! I also love how you created your first shot. How long did it take to get the "perfect" portrait? Your photos are great. Your alterations are spot on! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteConor is a pretty easy subject to photograph as long as he stays still. I ended up taking a lot of pictures of him for this out of about 30 shots 5 were usable. To get him to smile we played a rhyming game and said silly words and phrases. The other 25 shots or so where either blurry cuz he was wiggling or cuz I was laughing while standing on top of a chair
DeleteThat first photo is so great! It looks extremely professional, and the matchbox car heart was an awesome idea, very creative. The second is very cute and really captures a lot of personality. She's darling! Great portraits.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely awesome! You have done what professional photographers do. You made plans and tried to capture the moments that you knew would work. But, sometimes those plans fall apart. So, you went for the next best thing, and I think you have a most amazing photo of the little girl expressing exactly who she is. The first photograph is excellent and that you realize the overexposure of the shirt… This will help inform you for future photography. You have captured his personality and love for his toys absolutely perfectly. He looks relaxed and content, which means that you are relaxed and content while taking this shot. Great work!
