Framing

Framing
For this first shot I used and actual frame.  My goal was to draw your eye away from my sisters back and to my other sisters face (they are twins).  I think this would have worked better had I had a different color frame.  this picture is pretty monotone and a bright frame would have worked better, maybe red of blue.

For this next photo I used the trees to frame my little friend, unfortunately he wasn't in the mood for a picture and wouldn't stop growling at me lol

This next photo I'm not sure if it really works or not.  I wanted the focus to be the blue sky and having the girl in the window watching.  I think the sky would be more of a focus if there had been something in it.
This picture I used the white window frame to frame the flowers.  I was hoping to have the flowers stand out more and the background less but the dark screen and the shallowness of the porch made it difficult.

This next shot is of the clouds last night.  I have never seen these colors before and tried to frame the shot using the dark trees below.

This photo was taken through a pool tube.  I think it's a fun idea but would have worked better if my subject (Conor) was more into getting his picture taken and would have turned around.

Rule of thirds

Rule of Thirds...
For this assignment I took a photo of my little friend Conor.  In the first photo Conor is centered (or as centered as I could get a wiggling 4 year old to be) and the second he is in the far right quadrant of the shot.  I personally like the off centered shot better.

I also tried to do the rule of thirds shots with my dog Bosco but this was the only shot I got worth sharing...

Set Two

Lighting

For this assignment I kept the nature theme and decided to photograph a little pot of flowers at my mom's house.  The first picture I took I brought the flowers outside and used natural light from the sun.

The next photo I used a yellow light from a lamp for the light source.  This light source made it very hard to get the flowers in focus and also changed the color quite a bit from the original.

The third shot is in a very dark room with the flash.  Although  the color of the flowers is right the flash caused a lot of shadows.

analogous and complementary

Analogous
and
Complementary
Photos

For my first set of photos I chose to take a photo using complementary orange and blue and also an analogous color scheme of red, orange, and yellow.

For the complementary shot I couldn't decide which I liked best so I decided to share two photos with you....

(This first photo I did crop a little bit on the left because you could see my finger)

For the analogous photo I took a picture of my dinner on the grill :)

(Ok so I had a lot of fun with these pictures this week and couldn't chose just one, sorry!)

Collage

Collage

For my personal goal this week I wanted to work on capturing texture and as much detail as possible while still being in focus.  I had some troubles with blurring due to hand shaking so I decided to take photos of many different subjects, some free hand and some with the camera stabilized.  I got a few shots that I really liked individually, as a collage they are a little strange, but because that was what the assignment called for, this is the end result......

Favorite Two Photos

Iris

Here are my two favorite shots this week.....

The first picture is actually my favorite.  I like it because it is from an angle that we don't usually view a flower.  I also struggled this week with keeping the flower in focus and think this image is in focus (it was very windy this week) and is very crisp.  what I like about the second photo is the lighting. I also like how the darker blurred background makes the flower stand out.  (I didn't edit any of my photos this week, can anymore tell me if we are supposed to be?)
