Framing

Framing
For this first shot I used and actual frame.  My goal was to draw your eye away from my sisters back and to my other sisters face (they are twins).  I think this would have worked better had I had a different color frame.  this picture is pretty monotone and a bright frame would have worked better, maybe red of blue.

For this next photo I used the trees to frame my little friend, unfortunately he wasn't in the mood for a picture and wouldn't stop growling at me lol

This next photo I'm not sure if it really works or not.  I wanted the focus to be the blue sky and having the girl in the window watching.  I think the sky would be more of a focus if there had been something in it.
This picture I used the white window frame to frame the flowers.  I was hoping to have the flowers stand out more and the background less but the dark screen and the shallowness of the porch made it difficult.

This next shot is of the clouds last night.  I have never seen these colors before and tried to frame the shot using the dark trees below.

This photo was taken through a pool tube.  I think it's a fun idea but would have worked better if my subject (Conor) was more into getting his picture taken and would have turned around.

  1. first picture reminded me of my original framing idea. Taking pictures of pictures since they had frames

  2. The concept for the frame picture with your sisters is complete genius. The fact that your sisters are twins allows for many unique and fun photographic opportunities! The picture of Conor hiding behind the tree is very nice! It also makes use of the rule of thirds, which is cool.

  3. I like the first picture too. I think it's very unique, and really captures the idea of framing. (Although if you just glance at it, you would think it's a mirror.) The picture of the pool tube is a pretty cool idea too!

  4. Your sunset photo is my favorite!!! I also like the idea you used with your sisters that was genius and with the right angle and frame makes for a pretty metaphoriacal photo....maybe have one dress in white and the other black with matching or completely different styles.....Use your imagination as long as they are willing subjects lol. And I love a good growl shot, you did a great job with these!!

  5. The first shot you took was creative! It's as if you are looking into a mirror. I love how you captured all the colors in the sunset photo.

  6. Excellent work on these photographs. The first, the second and the last are the most successful for fulfilling the concept. They are all completely different as well, which is really nice to see. In the photo of the house there's too much implied open space to be real successful at "framing" the blue in the sky. If you had stepped to the left about a foot, you could have framed the plants in the window on the back wall and if you had stepped back just a couple of inches, you would have included more frame the really emphasize the frame. If you could, line these up and you will have a frame within a frame. The sunset shot is absolutely gorgeous, but there is too much open space to really consider this a framing photograph. It is absolutely gorgeous and the silhouettes really add a lot of activity and sort of mimic the shapes of the clouds.
